Wanda Davis
This month we would like to acknowledge the outstanding contributions made by Ms. Wanda Davis, the director of Childcare Network #61 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has created a unique school that focuses on healthy living. Ms. Wanda has created gardens and a very inviting outside learning environment at her school.
Ms. Wanda has been a part of the Childcare Network family for 2 years. Before joining Childcare Network, she worked in the early childhood field for 30 years. She has her North Carolina Administrative Credentials and earned a Child Development Associate (CDA) in Early Childhood Education.
According to the District Manager, Terri DeHart-Burris, Ms. Wanda loves to see people enjoying children. She always has a positive attitude and really allows children to play in a developmentally appropriate way. Ms. Wanda has such an engaging personality and exemplary staff and school that families are anxious to join her program.
Outside of the school, Ms. Wanda enjoys her own family. She has three children who are All American Track and Field Stars. Her daughter was even recently inducted into the Track and Field Hall of Fame!
Ms. Wanda links her family life with her work life successfully. Her daughter is the Vice President of the Parent Advisory Board for Childcare Network #61. The members of the advisory board exhibit a strong dedication to their role in making the school a success.
Ms. Wanda has also been successful in partnering with parents and the community in other ways. Many of the parents come and volunteer in the beautiful gardens and help pick the vegetables. Ms. Wanda has shared many items from the garden with her neighbors, the local fire department. She states that she is most proud of how interested the staff, parents, and children are in the gardens and other outside learning areas. She feels her school is friendly, open, and has a very family oriented atmosphere. A parent, Mr. Brody, recently called the District Manager to say that he has never seen a director run a school like Ms. Wanda. He stated that Ms. Wanda takes care of the school like she owns it.
Ms. Wanda's program has served as an inspiration for other Childcare Network programs even outside of her own district. Other Childcare Network employees recently visited her school to see the wonderful areas in her classrooms. This includes cozy areas designed to provide a place where parents can sit and read a book to their child in the morning during drop off time.
Ms. Wanda says she likes being a part of the Childcare Network family because she feels Childcare Network really strives to be “The Working Parent’s Best Friend.” Congratulations Ms. Wanda Davis. Your amazing contributions to Childcare Network have earned you the Employee Spotlight this month!
